Clear Text Editions

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 August 2026

This site is operated by Clear Text Editions, an independent publisher of public-domain and historical texts in modern English. This policy explains what is collected when you visit cleartexteditions.com, why, and how to opt out.

What we collect

You can browse this site without giving us any personal information, and we do not sell personal information. If you join our mailing list you give us an email address, and nothing else. Automatically, through the services below, we receive standard web analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and which advertisement (if any) brought you here.

Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager to load our measurement tools, and Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which advertisements lead to a purchase. These set cookies and collect the data described above. Google's practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy. You can prevent Google Analytics entirely with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We advertise our books on Google, on Facebook and Instagram, and on Quora. When you arrive from an advertisement, the platform may append a click identifier to the URL so that a later action on this site can be attributed to that advertisement. You can manage advertising personalisation with each platform: Google, Meta, Quora.

Meta pixel

This site carries the Meta pixel, which records page views and clicks on purchase buttons so we can measure advertising performance on Facebook and Instagram. Meta's practices are described in the Meta Privacy Policy.

Amazon links

Our "Buy on Amazon" links may carry an Amazon Associates tag or an Amazon Attribution tag. These tell us, in aggregate, that a purchase resulted from a given page or campaign. They do not tell us who you are or what else you bought. Once you arrive at Amazon you are subject to Amazon's own privacy notice.

Mailing list

If you subscribe, your email address is stored with MailerLite and used only to send you our updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you permanently. MailerLite's practices are described at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we will change this page, and the date above, in the same release.
